The abbey of San Pietro in Valle is a historical monastery of Valnerina and is without a doubt proof of the most important Dukedom of Spoleto. It is situated in the community of Ferentillo, between the centres of Precetto and Macenano, at circa 370 nit. above sea level. The church, that has been kept separate from the abbey, is from the VII century: the apse is from the XII century. Both have kept the valuable wall paintings from the Medieval and the Renaissance schooling, Umbrian representation of scenes from the Old and New Testament. The four sarcophagus however are from the II century and were conserved in the church, whose style and symbols reminds one of oriental artists.
